The Perfect Hot Chocolate

It’s cold outside, and the perfect cup of hot chocolate is exactly what we need right now!  While a quick cup of instant cocoa is great in a pinch, we love to take a little extra time to create something that feels indulgent, especially during the holidays.

Start with a good, quality chocolate.  A combination of semi-sweet and milk chocolate can be adjusted to find the perfect balance for your taste.  Try using melted chocolate for a richer flavor, instead of cocoa powder.  Reach for a bar of chocolate you like, and that will yield the best results for your individual palette.

The experts recommend 2% milk as your base, as chocolate contains fats that will make it creamy.  Heat the milk, but don’t let it boil.  Add your chocolate and whisk until it’s completely melted.  Consider cinnamon, nutmeg, or even a pinch of sea salt for added flavor.
