Dulce de Leche Rum Butter Truffles
-
In a small sauce pot combine the sweetened condensed milk, dulce de leche, dark chocolate, cocoa powder and salt. Place the pot over medium high heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook 10 to 15 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick and shiny and starts to pull away from bottom and side of sauce pot. The mixture is going to get thick. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter, vanilla and rum until melted and smooth. Pour mixture into glass bowl, cover and place in the fridge for at least 1 1/2 hours or overnight.
-
Once chilled place the sprinkles (or whatever you are using) in a shallow bowl. Rub some softened butter over hands and scoop out a rounded teaspoon of the chocolate mixture and roll into 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls. Repeat until all the dough has been used. Roll each ball in the chocolate sprinkles (or whatever you are using). Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
-
Store tightly covered at room temperature up to 2 days or in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

After you pop the cork, that champagne can quickly lose its fizz! Did you know that a simple raisin can bring the bubbles back to your glass of bubbly? According to Real Simple, just drop one raisin into a bottle of leftover champagne. The remaining carbon dioxide in the bottle will stick to the raisin’s surface, before releasing as bubbles. Try it, it really works!
Here in New York City, the place to be on New Year’s Eve is Times Square! An estimated million people gather in the Square, along with the billions watching worldwide, to celebrate the promise and potential of a new year. Although the eyes of the world may be on NYC, it’s Samoa, Tonga and Kiritimati (Christmas Island) that are the first locations to start the party, almost a full day before us!

Resolving to walk more this year? Our comfy chic styles are the perfect go-anywhere additions to an active life!
For many of us, the new year means new resolutions. We set goals to be more healthy and active, but sometimes it’s difficult to know where to start. Check out these tips from the American Heart Association on adding more activity to our days:
-
Grab the leash and walk your dog. Your body — and your pooch — will thank you!
-
Take someone you love for a walk. Keep it fun by exploring new neighborhoods or turning your walk into a scavenger hunt.
-
Hit the mall. Are you shivering (or sweating) at the idea of walking outside? Take a fast stroll around the mall instead. Window shop, people watch and get active in a climate-controlled environment.
-
Walk and talk. Even if you’re glued to your phone for work calls, you don’t have to be glued to your chair. Make it a habit to talk and walk.
-
Tune into fitness. Retrain your inner couch potato. Walk or jog in place, do yoga or lift weights, or walk on the treadmill at the gym while you watch your must-see TV shows.
-
Ditch the car. Spare yourself the parking stress and log some more active time by parking farther away (or even leaving the car at home) and walking to your destination.
-
Take the stairs. The elevator may go up — but it doesn’t make your heart rate climb. Take the stairs when you can, even if just for a floor or two.
When you start looking for them, you’ll see lots of opportunities to be more active every day and get a few more steps in during everyday activities. Remember, every step counts!
