The palace at Versailles started as a more modest structure.  First built by Louis XIII in 1623, it was a hunting lodge of brick and stone, and was enlarged into a royal palace by Louis XIV.  It is famous for its breathtaking architecture, gardens, and priceless art.  Designers from around the world travel to Versailles for a source of inspiration.

Finished in 1889, it was constructed to be the entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair.   Many of France’s leading artists and intellectuals criticized the tower for its design, but it has become a worldwide symbol of France and one of the most iconic sites in the world.  The Eiffel Tower is the most-visited paid monument in the world, averaging 6-7 million visitors a year.
